UFI and Pelagia open €30 million redeveloped fishmeal and fish oil plant in Killybegs
An investment by United Fish Industries (UFI) and Pelagia AS of €30 million has seen one of the iconic fish processing plants in Killybegs being rebuilt and redesigned into the most modern Marine Ingredient plants in the world.
The plant now houses state-of-the-art steam generation, production processes, waste heat evaporative capacity, computer control systems and environmental control systems.
UFI Killybegs is located in a key and central position in Pelagia`s holdings on the western seaboard of Europe and the investment is an indicator of Pelagia Groups continuing commitment to Ireland and the growth of its Feed Division.
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, Michael Creed, TD officially opened the new plant accompanied by his colleague Minister Joe McHugh, deputies Thomas Pringle and Pearse Doherty and Cllr. Noel Jordan.
